Aubrietas are among the essential spring ground-cover perennials.
The original species that contributed to the formation of current hybrids originate from the limestone rocks of the Balkans and Asia Minor. The cultivar ´Silberrand´ forms relatively fast-growing carpets 5-10 cm high, with white variegated leaves, and light blue flowers in April-May. Requires well-drained neutral or calcareous soils and a sunny location.It is used for planting low perennial beds, dry stone walls, or rock gardens where it creates a striking blue aspect during flowering.
Habitat circles A - alpinum, M1 - rocky stone mats with dry soil, SF1 - southern warm and sunny walls with dry soil.
