Aubrietas are among the essential spring ground-cover perennials.
The original species that contributed to the formation of current hybrids originate from the limestone rocks of the Balkans and Asia Minor. The cultivar 'Hamburger Stadtpark' forms relatively fast-growing carpets 10-15 cm high, with blue flowers in April-May. Requires well-drained neutral or calcareous soils and a sunny location.It is used for planting low perennial beds, dry stone walls, or rock gardens where it creates a striking blue aspect during flowering.
