The original species grows in the western part of North America.
The cultivar ´Imbricatum´ is a low form that grows naturally in the Aleutians.The plant is 20 cm tall, with fan-shaped leaves, sometimes deep blue-green, and they retract in winter.
Requires moist, humus-rich, acidic soils and a semi-shaded location.
Use in shaded rock gardens or flower beds.Habitat circle G3 - deciduous forest with moist soil.
